European Sound Delta  est une résidence nomade au fil du Rhin et du Danube, une performance à travers l’Europe et un projet radiophonique de près de 3 mois sur la perception des espaces traversés.
Deux bateaux remontent simultanément les deux grands fleuves européens depuis la Mer du Nord et la Mer Noire jusqu’à Strasbourg. A bord, des équipements techniques et des équipages constitués d’artistes invités ou ayant répondu à un appel à participation. Pendant l’été 2008, il s’agira pour eux de composer des pièces sonores et des dispositifs  in situ à partir d' enregistrements réalisés dans les villes traversées : atmosphères, langues, musiques…
A chaque étape, l’espace public des villes deviendra un espace de jeu : un territoire sonore à explorer et aussi un lieu de diffusion du travail des artistes à l'occasion d’événements : concerts, performances, installations, parcours... A l’arrivée, l’ensemble des travaux finalisés sera exposé lors de croisières sonores à Strasbourg (26-27-28 septembre 2008).
European Sound Delta préfigure donc un réseau original de coopération artistique et culturelle autour de l’art sonore puisqu’il va mobiliser un grand nombre de participants. Il permettra aussi de sensibiliser des jeunes en situation d’insertion professionnelle en les initiant aux techniques de l’art sonore. Il sera possible d’en suivre à distance le processus via une radio éphémère opérée en coopération avec les radios locales et un Sound Wall accessible en ligne où seront rassemblés les carnets de voyage des artistes. 

European Sound Delta is a 3 months nomadic residency navigating on the Rhine and Danube rivers, a performance across Europe and a radio project concerned with the perception of traversed spaces.
Two boats will simultaneously navigate upstream on both great European rivers from the North Sea and the Black Sea down to Strasbourg. Technical equipments and crews of artists -either invited or having responded to a call for participation- will be on board. During Summer 2008, participants will be asked to compose sound pieces and create in-situ devices  from recordings made in the crossed cities: ambiences, languages, music…
During each boat-call, the public spaces of the cities will become a ‘playground’: a sound territory to explore but also a place for diffusing the work of artists through a series of events : concerts, performances, installations, itineraries... In its final stage, the completed works will be gathered and exhibited as part several sonic cruises in Strasbourg (26-27-28 September 2008). 
By involving a great number of participants European Sound Delta thus prefigures an original network of artistic and cultural cooperation focused on sound art. It will also enable young people needing professional integration to get acquainted with sound creation techniques. It will be possible to follow the entire project from a distance thanks to an ephemeral radio jointly operated with local radios and an online sound wall, where the artists will post their sketchbooks.
